GoPro have today announced the release of the Hero 3 camera. It comes in three different versions/editions, and at first glance appears to be much smaller, much more powerful, and has built in Wi-Fi. Here's a breakdown of the different versions:
The White Edition of the new Hero 3 could be compared to an upgraded version of the HD Hero 1 Original (Hero Naked) which has the new thinner profile, and includes Wi-Fi and the new flat underwater dive lens.
The Silver Edition could be compared to an upgraded version of the HD Hero 2 camera, but with the new thinner profile, built in Wi-Fi, and improved housing.
This is the top of the range GoPro Hero 3 camera, using brand new technology and has some great new features, such as the ability to record at 60 frames per second at 1080p.
All Hero 3 cameras will now use a microSD card instead of an SD card. It also appears that you will be able to use most of the current GoPro Accessories with the new cameras, although they will have thinner housings (the new Hero 3 camera is only about 20mm thick).
