When Old Meets New

Broadly speaking, motorcycle manufacturers and accessories providers concentrate on the last ten years or so. If you have a machine that is older than ten years please don’t lose heart. Popular makes and models that generate enough interest will keep parts and accessories churning out whilst there is a demand. But, where parts and accessories do go out of production, let necessity be the mother of invention. Here at Hurtle Gear, we are not about to reinvent the wheel but we do like to keep them turning.
We understand that most of you would prefer to be riding your motorcycle to working on it, but there can be great reward in doing your own work. Many of our customers are keeping classics alive and we enjoy hearing your success stories as much as we do helping you get there. If you have a tricky task waiting for you in the shed and don’t know where to start, please feel free to reach out for ideas and suggestions.
Al, owns a sixty-something, Triumph 650 hybrid. A previous owner had been quite innovative in shoe-horning an engine and gearbox into a frame not ordinarily known to cohabitate together. The result was a unique cafe-racer special that proved to have good bones but lacked a little finesse. Al’s renovation included some LSL tracker style handlebars and matching LSL bar clamps. These upgrades left the previous owner’s rudimentary dash looking a bit sad. Some brass, plate, a jigsaw and a bit of creativity has tidied up the dash area of Al’s Triumph. Better still, the LSL gear now resides in an environment that marries the unique blend of classic motorcycle with modern, high-tech parts.
By the way, LSL has been re-branded and is now known as Highsider Pro. Highsider have promised even more options for motorcycle customisation. We look forward to that.
