A good motorcycle lock adds an extra layer of protection whether your bike is parked at home, at work or while you're out riding. Disc locks are compact enough to carry on the bike and are a convenient choice for everyday use. They attach directly to the brake disc, providing a visible physical deterrent without requiring somewhere nearby to secure a chain. Some models also incorporate an alarm, adding an audible warning if the motorcycle or lock is disturbed.

For greater security at home, a motorcycle chain and lock can allow the bike to be secured to a suitable fixed object or ground anchor. Heavier chains are naturally less convenient to carry, so many riders use a substantial chain at home and keep a smaller disc lock on the motorcycle for use when they're away.

When choosing a disc lock, check the locking-pin diameter and the available space in your motorcycle's brake disc before ordering. Not every disc lock will fit every brake disc. A brightly coloured reminder cable can also be useful to remind you that the lock is fitted before you ride away.
