The distinctive design incorporates Z-shaped side channels that guide airflow away from the rider, helping reduce pressure around the shoulders while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency. Its double-height profile also directs airflow that would otherwise reach the helmet and upper torso, providing improved wind protection at higher speeds.

Puig developed the Z-Racing Screen using virtual wind tunnel testing to optimise both aerodynamic efficiency and rider protection. Compared with the original screen, Puig's testing recorded an average improvement in aerodynamic protection of approximately 12.7% with the rider in an upright position and 61% in a racing position.
