Puig 36Ω / 25W Resistor Set for LED Indicators

The Puig 36Ω / 25W Resistor Set is designed to help maintain the correct indicator flash rate when replacing compatible original motorcycle indicators with Puig LED indicators.

LED indicators typically draw less electrical current than conventional bulbs. On motorcycles using a bimetallic indicator relay, this reduction in current can cause the indicators to flash at an incorrect rate. Installing the appropriate resistors helps compensate for this difference and restore the intended flashing frequency.

Important Installation Information

These resistors are only suitable for the Puig indicators specified for the relevant motorcycle application and when all four indicators are replaced with the same reference.

For motorcycles using a traditional bimetallic indicator relay, the flashing frequency is affected by the electrical load passing through the circuit. Changing from conventional indicators to lower-draw LED indicators can therefore alter the flash rate.

Motorcycles equipped with an electronic relay may not require resistors because the flashing frequency may operate independently of the electrical load. If the relay type is unknown, Puig recommends installing the indicators and checking the resulting flash frequency before determining whether additional components are required.

LED Indicator Installation Options

Where additional resistance is required, a resistor is connected in parallel with the indicator circuit on each side of the motorcycle. The correct Puig resistor depends on how many indicators are being replaced:

• Replacing all four indicators: Puig Resistor Ref. 42980.
• Replacing two indicators: Puig Resistor Ref. 58730.

Alternatively, where the motorcycle uses a replaceable indicator relay, a compatible Puig electronic relay may be used instead. Some motorcycles do not use a conventional replaceable relay, while others use more than one component to control the indicator flashing function, so compatibility should be confirmed before installation.
