This is a RAM 1.5" ball with a male 1/4"-20 X .50" thread on it. This will screw into most standard camera female threads, allowing you to connect your camera to the RAM 1.5" ball system and mount it just about anywhere.

The Tough-Ball is named tough because it has steel inside and out.
